Before buying a dot-to-dot book for adults, check three things: a high dot count for real detail, a number sequence that’s easy to follow without a magnifying glass, and paper thick enough that ink won’t bleed through to the next page. Everything else is preference.
Dot count tells you what you’re getting
A book that says “extreme” but stays under a couple hundred dots per page isn’t really extreme — check the actual count if it’s listed. More dots means finer detail and a longer session per page, which is either exactly what you want or more than you’re looking for, depending on the evening.
Paper quality matters more than it sounds
Thin paper bleeds, especially with gel pens or darker ink. If a book doesn’t mention paper weight, that’s worth a quick look at reviews before buying — nothing ruins a finished page like ink coming through from the one behind it.
Number sequence and print size
