A short, easy page takes about 20 to 30 minutes. An extreme page with 1,000-plus dots usually takes a few sittings rather than a single evening — closer to a slow weekend project than a one-off activity.
Why it’s hard to give one number
Speed depends on more than dot count. Tight spacing between dots slows most people down more than raw count does, and so does how carefully you’re drawing — a light-colored pen on a dark page takes a bit more care than pencil on white. Two people with the same page can easily land twenty minutes apart.
A rough guide by size
- 50–150 dots: 15–30 minutes
- 150–500 dots: 30 minutes to an hour and a half
- 500–1,000+ dots: Multiple sittings, spread across a few evenings
There’s no clock running
None of this is meant to set a pace — dot-to-dot doesn’t reward finishing fast.
