Roughly 500 dots is where “hard” starts turning into “extreme,” and extreme pages often run well past 1,000. There’s no single official cutoff — it’s a range, not a line — but here’s how we think about it.
The rough breakdown
- Easy — around 50 to 150 dots. A short, sure line to follow. Done in twenty minutes or so.
- Medium — around 150 to 500 dots. Enough to slow you down. A page for a longer evening.
- Extreme — 500 dots and up, often 1,000-plus. Fine detail, a picture that stays hidden until near the end. Usually worth spreading across more than one sitting.
Why it’s a range, not a rule
Dot count isn’t the only thing that changes the feel of a page — how close together the dots sit, and how much the lines cross each other, matter too. A 600-dot page with a lot of open space reads easier than a 600-dot page packed into a small area. Treat the numbers above as a starting point, not a strict grade.
